Every incident on the record. Every driver on the same scale.
Log it once — type, location, vehicle, the ticket and what it cost — and Skye does the rest: demerit points per 1,000 km, a rank, a trend, and a scorecard in every driver's inbox.
Your trial starts with the Incident Tracking & Scorecard module — enable other modules anytime in Settings.
Fleet average
5.4
pts / 1,000 km · ↓ 8% this quarter
The record of what went wrong is spread across six places.
Violations, roadside inspections, incidents, and the tickets that follow them all tell part of the story — but they live in paper files, an inbox, and someone's spreadsheet. Nobody can see the pattern, and nobody can price it.
87%
Of truck crashes come down to the driver
FMCSA's crash causation study assigned 87% of coded crash reasons to driver behavior — not the truck, the weather, or the road.
+113%
Crash risk after a prior crash
ATRI's crash predictor found one past crash more than doubles the odds of the next one. Past behavior is the best leading indicator you have.
~35%
Injury crashes preventable with coaching
VTTI modeled monitoring paired with driver coaching preventing roughly a third of truck and bus injury crashes. Measurement plus feedback works.
Record it once. It counts everywhere else.
The incident is the input and the scorecard is the output — but the register is worth having even before anyone gets ranked.
One register — whether you logged it or the truck did
Type, date, time, location, the driver and the truck involved, notes, and the photos or reports attached to it. Link your ELD and safety rules file themselves the same way — speeding, harsh braking, harsh cornering, seatbelt — landing on the right driver with no data entry.
- Filter, group by month, and export the whole register to Excel or PDF
- Manual incidents for everything the ELD can't see
- Per-branch access groups control who sees which incidents
The ticket, and what it actually cost you
Fought or paid, and by whom. Record the original fine and the reduced one, the demerit points before and after, the operating-authority points against your carrier — and the split between what the driver paid and what you did, on both the fine and the legal fees.
- Driver demerits and operating-authority points tracked separately
- Original and reduced amounts side by side — the defense pays for itself on paper
- Legal fees split between driver and company, same as the fine
Ticket · fought
- Fine $485 → $175
- Demerit points 3 → 1
- Paid by driver $175

Demerit points per 1,000 km — not raw totals
Every incident carries the point value you set, and every driver's points are divided by the kilometres they actually drove — so the driver doing triple the mileage isn't triple the villain.
- Rolling exposure window you control — 90 days by default
- Fleet-wide rank and branch rank on every driver
- Too few kilometres to judge fairly? Drivers under the threshold are shown — but never misranked

What's inside Incident Tracking & Scorecard
From the roadside to the inbox — the whole safety loop in one system.
One incident register
Every incident in one grid — type, date, location, driver, vehicle, notes, and attached files. Filter, group by month, and export to Excel or PDF.
Tickets, fines & fought outcomes
Original and reduced fines, driver demerits, operating-authority points, who defended it, and the driver-vs-company split on the fine and the legal fees.
ELD auto-incidents
Speeding, harsh braking, harsh cornering, and seatbelt rules create incidents automatically — points land without data entry.
Points per 1,000 km, with decay
Points normalized by kilometres driven over a rolling window — and expiring per incident type, so scores recover as behavior does.
Rankings & trends
Every active driver ranked company-wide and by branch, plus weekly, monthly, or quarterly trend buckets — see whether the fleet is getting safer.
My Scorecard & scheduled emails
Each driver gets their own page — rank, rate, and per-incident-type breakdown — and the same scorecard by email on your cadence.
From the roadside to the inbox — one loop
Start where the work starts: log the incident, attach the ticket, and let the register turn itself into a ranked scorecard nobody has to assemble.
Log the incident
Type, date and time, where it happened, the driver and the truck involved, and the notes — one pass, whether it came off a police report or a phone call.
- Nothing waits on an integration — log it the moment you hear about it
- Photos, reports, and inspection paperwork attach to the record
Attach the ticket, and what it cost
Fought or paid, and by whom. The original fine and the reduced one, demerit points before and after, and the split between the driver's money and yours.
- Driver demerits and operating-authority points tracked separately
- Legal fees split the same way as the fine
One register, however it got there
Everything you logged by hand and everything your ELD filed itself, in one grid — filter it down to a single violation type, then export the slice.
- Speeding, harsh braking, cornering, and seatbelt rules file themselves
- Excel and PDF export on the whole register or any filtered slice
Set what it's worth
Give each incident type its demerit points — a speeding event, a preventable collision, a seatbelt violation — and how fast those points decay.
- Points and decay are yours to define per incident type
- Leave a type blank and it never touches the score
Rank the fleet
Every active driver in one ranked grid — points by incident type, kilometres driven, and points per 1,000 km, color-coded at a glance.
- Rank by rate or by raw totals — your call
- Low-kilometre drivers held aside as “insufficient exposure”, not misranked
Put it on a schedule
Switch scheduled emails on, pick weekly, monthly, or quarterly, set the timezone — and every active driver gets their own scorecard without anyone assembling it.
- Exposure window and the minimum kilometres to be ranked are yours to set
- Trends by company, branch, or your top ten sit on the same screen

Frequently asked questions
What does an incident record hold?
Incident type, date and time, location, the driver and the vehicle involved, and free-form notes — plus any photos, police reports, or inspection paperwork attached straight to the record. Every incident sits in one company-wide register you can filter, group by month, and export to Excel or PDF, and per-branch access groups control who sees which ones.
Can I track tickets and what they cost?
Yes — each incident holds its tickets. Record whether the ticket was fought and by whom, the original fine and the reduced one, the driver's demerit points before and after, the operating-authority points against your carrier, and how the fine and the legal fees were split between the driver and the company. It's a per-ticket record, not an aggregate spend report — the numbers live on the incident, where the context is.
How is the score calculated?
Each incident carries the demerit points you assigned to its type. Skye sums a driver's points (after decay), divides by the kilometres they drove over the exposure window (90 days by default), and multiplies by 1,000 — points per 1,000 km. Lower is better, and rank #1 is your safest driver.
Do incidents integrate with my ELD system?
Yes — natively. Link your ELD system and safety rules like speeding, harsh braking, harsh cornering, and seatbelt create incidents automatically, and kilometres driven flow in as the exposure behind the per-1,000 km rate. Incidents can still be logged by hand for anything the ELD can't see. On a different provider? Contact us — we add the integrations our customers need. Contact us
Can drivers see their own scores?
Yes — every driver gets a My Scorecard page with their rank, rate, and per-incident-type breakdown, plus a personal trend chart. Turn on scheduled emails and the scorecard lands in their inbox weekly, monthly, or quarterly.
Do points count against a driver forever?
No — you set decay per incident type, like “lose one point every month”. Scores recover as behavior does, so the scorecard stays a coaching tool instead of a permanent record.
Is this part of the Skye platform, or can I get it on its own?
Both. Run Incident Tracking & Scorecard on its own for $49/mo (up to 200 employees), or get it included in the full Skye platform ($200/mo + $3/unit). See full pricing
